One easy tool to stop caretaking
Hi there,
During last week’s workshop, I learned the difference between CARETAKING and CAREGIVING.
Caretaking is bad.
Caregiving is good.
How has caretaking shown up in my own life?
I’ve felt responsible for other people’s issues.
I’ve worried.
I’ve given unsolicited advice.
Keeping my mouth shut can be really hard.
My peers joke about using DUCK TAPE as a tool to cover their mouths.
I’ve decided to create the following Tiny Habit recipe to put this tool to good use:
“After I detect the urge to solve someone’s problem, I will think ‘Duck Tape’ and quietly celebrate by saying ‘YES! Wisdom!’”
