How to create an achievable and reliable habit in just one day
Tech companies are excellent at keeping us compulsively engaged in their products.
Their secret weapon?
Notifications.
The good news is that we are not powerless against them, as we are in control of which notifications to turn on and how to turn them on (with or without sound, badge, or message).
In Tiny Habits language, a “notification” is a “prompt.”
A prompt has to be reliable and specific, such as the trailing edge of an action.
For example, the trailing edge of loading the dishwasher would be closing its door.
Then, we could use it to create the following habit:
“After I close the dishwasher door, I will eat one square of chocolate and celebrate.”
Try it!
You shall see that you don’t need to repeat this for 21 or 60 days to establish this habit. It’s established immediately.
So, what other habit can you create?
