Transform painful life challenges and triggers into a healthy mindset
Life’s challenges can trigger us into using unhealthy coping mechanisms—or Band-aids—such as alcohol, nicotine, food, sex, exercise, shopping, unhealthy relationships, etc.
If we want to be resilient, healthy, creative, and energetic, we need to maintain a mindset of positivity.
I don’t mean the kind of positivity that is fake and avoids reality. I mean the kind of positivity that comes out of Stoic acceptance and determination.
One trick I’ve discovered that works is: The Pearl Habit, a subset of Tiny Habits.
Like an oyster turns an irritant such as sand into a pearl, a Pearl Habit (hence the name) can transform a trigger into: a thought of gratitude; an innovative way to change our lives for the better; or into a reframed way of looking at the issue.
Check out this video of Tiny Habits Academy Director Linda Fogg-Phillips teaching us about this method.
The cool thing about Pearl Habits is you don’t need a Band-Aid; and best of all, negative triggers won’t have so much power over you anymore.
